DAY 3 (more)

Also, the 2nd half of the day was spent at a campus of Nelson Mandela University. Nice reception and some interesting information about math education was discussed. Tonight the guys were supposed to go out on the town; but the lady that was going to take us left without us and we couldn't figure out where the place was. But we did have dinner at a fine Italian restaurant and enjoyed each others company.

  1. Mr. Kato,

Hope you are having a great time. Sounds like it! Do they have as many students in their school as we have in ours?

  3. I don't know how many they had in their school total, but they had 45-50 per class. No discipline problems. AMAZING

  4. I am getting jealous about what you are learning, and you are only a few days in. You will have to present for us in the beginning of the year.

  5. Mr. Kato:

As a Greenville, North Carolina native, I am sooooo proud of you! This because you're only the second person that I know - on a first name basis - who has made the journey to the mother continent. That you are there for the most honorable of circumstances, I look forward to a brief educational Comp. & Anal. report. Consequently, although I know that there will be photos of your amazing journey aplenty, I'm hoping that you might also have time and resources for a video diary and/or video journal. But then I would ask for double duty, wouldn't I?

By the way, I hear that South Africa is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world: pictures please. Take care and I'll be sure to tell your sister that I found your website & posted(I read your blog too, of course, I agree that you best behave).

    Best,

Susie (a tee shirt, COD ... if possible).

  6. Susie, you're absolutely right about the beaches. We are staying near one (Port Elizabeth on Nelson Mandela Bay) and we visited one of the surfing capitals of the world today (John's Bay). I have plenty of pics; just difficult to upload them on these networks. It takes a long time; which we don't have alot of.
